Sprint Health Score

The Sprint Health Score is a composite metric (0-100) that gives you a quick read on how your sprint is going.

Score labels

Score Label Meaning
80-100 Great Sprint is on track, healthy velocity
60-79 Good Mostly healthy, minor areas to watch
40-59 Fair Some concerns, review the breakdown
0-39 Needs Attention Significant issues, take action

How it's calculated

The health score is a weighted average of four components:

Completion (40% weight)

The percentage of stories marked Done. This is the largest factor because ultimately, shipping is what matters.

Velocity Trend (20% weight)

Compares the current sprint's velocity to the previous sprint. If you're delivering more or the same, this scores high. A significant drop in velocity lowers this score.

  • 100 = velocity is equal to or higher than previous sprint
  • Decreases proportionally as velocity drops

Stuck Stories (20% weight)

Percentage of in-progress stories that have not had a status change in 3 or more days. Stories that sit untouched may indicate blockers.

  • 100 = no stuck stories
  • Decreases as more stories become stuck

Scope Stability (20% weight)

Percentage of stories that existed when the sprint started (vs. stories added mid-sprint). Adding many stories mid-sprint can indicate scope creep.

  • 100 = no new stories added after sprint start
  • Decreases as more stories are added mid-sprint

Using the health score

The health breakdown bars on the dashboard show each component individually, making it easy to identify which area needs attention. For example: - Low Completion → Focus on finishing in-progress stories - Low Stuck Stories score → Check for blockers on stalled work - Low Scope Stability → Avoid adding new stories mid-sprint
