Managing Epics
Epics are groupings of related stories within a sprint. They help you organize work by feature area or theme.
Creating an epic
- Go to the sprint Planning view
- Click Add Epic
- Enter the epic name and optional description
- Choose a color for visual identification
Epic properties
| Field | Description |

| Name | The epic title |
| Description | What this epic covers |
| Color | A color tag shown on story cards |
| Position | Order within the sprint |
Working with epics
- Add stories — Use the Quick Add row at the bottom of each epic section
- Move stories — Drag stories between epics in the planning view
- Edit inline — Click the epic name or description to edit
- Delete — Remove an epic (stories can be reassigned)
Epics on the Kanban board
On the board, each story card shows its epic color as a left border. In Swim Lane view, stories are grouped by epic with horizontal lanes for each one.
Epic filtering
Use the epic filter on the board to focus on stories from a specific epic. This is especially useful in large sprints with many stories.
